Divers in the Channel Islands have been requested to avoid diving ‘unless it is absolutely necessary' over the next two days due to a hyperbaric chamber being closed for regular maintenance.

Usually, people diving within 12 miles of Guernsey have access to a chamber based at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital, but this is closed until Friday.

In light of this, Guernsey's government is asking commercial and recreational divers to be extra-careful during this chamber ‘down-time'. Services at the hyperbaric chamber will resume on 13 October.
