Dive specialist tour operator Blue O Two has launched its inaugural Diving Life photography competition, with a host of prizes including a liveaboard trip to Egypt.

In a statement, the company said: “Images always help to inspire and motivate us at Blue O Two, especially during difficult times such as these. We really enjoyed curating our social media posts over the past few months. They help to keep us inspired and dreaming about diving – and hopefully do the same for you too.

“And now it’s your turn. Why not dust off your albums, open up your files and download those images from your SD card which you’ve been meaning to do for ages? Then, choose an image or two and enter our competition. You could have a lot of fun going down memory lane. You’ve got nothing to lose and plenty to gain…”

Prizes include a liveaboard trip to Egypt, worth up to £1,000, and the title ‘Diving Life Photographer of the Year' as the overall winner. Plus, a host of branded Blue O Two goodies are up for grabs for the runners up, including hoodies and T-shirts.

Not only that, but your image could feature in the first-ever Blue O Two calendar. A selection of the best images submitted for the competition will be curated in the 2021 Blue O Two calendar.

As if that wasn’t enough motivation for you, Blue O Two have Alex Mustard MBE judging the photographs for them. Alex is a founder of the  Underwater Photographer of the Year competition,  unveiled for the last two years at the GO Diving Show, and has acted as a judge for many prestigious contests.  He is a four-time category winner in the British Wildlife Photography Awards, and one of his images featured in the 2019 Wildlife Photographer of the Year at the Natural History Museum.

The categories

The competition is an opportunity for you to join Blue O Two in celebrating everything that is great about scuba diving. So much about a diving holiday happens above the water – from meal times to new friendships to bonding with the crew. And so, there are two categories:

Category One
Best Underwater Photograph

There are many inspiring and magical sights to see when exploring the underwater world.  They can include a variety of different underwater species, wrecks, caves, reefs, divers and landscapes.

Category Two
Best Divers Lifestyle Photograph

Scuba diving is a lifestyle. There is so much more to appreciate and enjoy than just diving.  Anyone who has experienced a liveaboard holiday will know that it’s the friendships made, food you eat and stunning sunsets experienced after a fabulous day diving – all shared with new and old friends, and possibly your favourite tipple.
Your special diving lifestyle photograph can include any image above water, which helps to make the liveaboard experience so memorable.
