BDMLR launches Crowdfunder for Cornwall Seal Hospital

Today (Friday 5 February), the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) has launched a major Crowdfunder appeal to raise funds to build a new Cornwall Seal Hospital.

BDMLR volunteers have been caring for rescued seal pups at the existing unit in the short term when local rehabilitation facilities became full up for the past ten years, but it desperately needs expanding and updating.

More and more seals are requiring assistance, particularly after storms when lots of casualties can appear in a short space of time, overwhelming resources.

BDMLR want to open a brand new, purpose-built seal pup hospital with more than double the capacity they currently have. The building has been carefully designed to ensure an optimal environment for the pups during their first stage of rehabilitation. It will also feature a state-of-the-art training facility, enabling the organisation to keep volunteers' knowledge up to date with the most-recent developments in seal pup care.

You can donate to the appeal by going to the BDMLR Crowdfunder page.
