Tioman Dive Resort ticks all the boxes, it balances the essentials in creating an inclusive dive resort that offers comfortable accommodation, easily accessible reefs, a range of diving experiences like night dives, muck dives and wreck dives, but most importantly – top-notch vibes! Located on the east coast of Pahang in Malaysia you’ll find the resort at Tioman Island, which was recently ranked in our Top 5 diving destinations in Malaysia. Furthermore, this little bundle of paradise has been named by TIME Magazine as one of the world’s most beautiful islands!
How to get there:
The best mode of transportation to Tioman Island is via ferry, the most popular route is from Mersing ferry port in Johor, which takes between 1.5-2 hours, otherwise, you can catch a ferry from Tanjung Gemok ferry port in Pahang, which takes roughly 2 hours to get to Tioman.
When to go?
Tioman Island can be visited mostly year-round, despite being closed over the monsoon period in December and January. In hindsight, the island is generally open from the 1st of February to late November, with the dry season offering balmy weather flowing between May to September. For keen avid divers that desire the best conditions for scuba diving, then it’s recommended to visit between March-May or September-November for the best visibility that averages between 15m and 30m. Nevertheless, the diving season does start from early March to November, alongside delightfully warm water temperatures that range from 26 to 32 degrees Celsius.
What other activities can I do?
Even if diving isn’t your rodeo – or your friends and family for that matter – then you’ll be glad to hear that aside from diving and snorkelling, there are other opportunities to soak in that much-revered sunshine. Activities can range from island hopping, renting bicycles, rainforest hiking, golfing at Berjaya’s 18-hole golf course or just sunbathing and drinking to your heart’s content at B&J Beach Bar.
Diving:
Engage your senses in a spine-tingling underwater world, where biodiversity puts on an immersive display of life. Divers will be surrounded by big schools of fish, nudibranchs, turtles, rays and reef sharks that dwell along shifting topographies of granite boulder fields, coral-spanning floors and undersea canyons. Tioman Island also hosts spectacular shipwrecks, from small fishing boats that hold grouper and snapper, to WWII battleships and submarines, as well as the stunning 745-foot HMS Prince of Wales. Dare to dream, you may even spot the irregular occurrences of whale sharks that pass by!
The resort provides readily-made dive packages that compile a variety of morning, afternoon, night, shore and muck dives, or tailor-made dive packages that suit your personal preferences. Visitors can also begin their diving adventure beneath the waves and qualify for the PADI Open Water Course, while experienced divers can advance their skills in numerous specialty courses to transition themselves into better divers.
