A major air and sea search is underway for a diver who was reported missing close to Old Harry Rocks, near Swanage, shortly after 6pm last night (23 July).

The search for the diver, who according to reports on social media is a teenager, involves rescue teams, RNLI lifeboats and two Coastguard helicopters, who are combing the area between Poole and Swanage.

UPDATE: The Coastguard called off the search at around 6pm on 24 July, “pending any further information”.

The news of this latest diver incident comes just weeks after two divers perished off the Eastbourne coast in two separate incidents, as reported on our sister site Divernet.
