Meet LiveAboard – For divers by divers

When was LiveAboard.com established and what was the motivation behind its creation?

LiveAboard.com was launched in 2013 with an aim to make booking a liveaboard holiday easier. The problem was people could not find all the trips available worldwide, so we wanted to fix that. Since then we have helped thousands of divers save money and time by offering a better online booking process and faster customer service. We believe we are the easiest place online to book liveaboard diving and adventure cruises. We currently offer over 190 liveaboards with more than 9000 departures worldwide, which can all be booked online with a best price guarantee.

Where are your favourite places to visit and what are your favourite dives?

With so many amazing places to dive around the world it’s tough to pick a top dive destination. Our team has dived in so many places around the world and are still keen to dive many more. All probably have their different favourites, but some that keep getting mentioned frequently are the popular liveaboard destinations such as Komodo & Raja Ampat in Indonesia, which offer just amazing diving in a spectacular part of the world. Being able to share the same space as a Giant Manta or a gentle Whale Shark just makes these places extra special. Along with favourites amongst Europeans such as fantastic diving in the Maldives and the ever popular Galapagos and Cocos Islands, our team could discuss all day which was the ultimate favourite. Do you have a favourite liveaboard?

As an online travel agent we like to offer impartial advice as we deal with over 190 high quality liveaboard around the world. Our website however automatically ranks liveaboards based on reviews, quality score and reputation amongst other factors. Therefore the customer reviews and historic data will push proven favourite Liveaboards upwards.

What is it that makes liveaboard trips so special compared with land-based holidays?

A liveaboard trip is special as it allows divers to truly immerse themselves in a dive area. Being based on a floating resort they allow access to far flung dive areas not normally accessible from day boat tours. The bar has been raised very high in terms of quality vessels available with many offering comfort and service levels usually found in 4-5 star hotels. By travelling between dive sites during surface intervals and overnight it allows divers to visit many dive sites and get maximum dives in over their trip. Land based holidays certainly have some appeal but for value for money and access to some special dive destination a liveaboard trip is a must.

At the moment you feature liveaboards from all over the world, do you have ambitions to list an even wider selection of Liveaboards?

We are continually looking to add new operators and destinations to our catalogue. We will remain focused on dive liveaboards but we’ve been able to add adventure cruises earlier this year which can be found on our cruise site. LiveAboard.com has handpicked each operator based on their excellent service, spectacular locations, and comfortable accommodations onboard. LiveAboard.com is now also the easiest place online to book adventure cruises around the world, including popular destinations such as Galapagos, Indonesia and the Raja Ampat region, Alaska with the Inside Passage and Glacier Bay National Park, Australia and the Great Barrier Reef, Croatia and the Dalmatian Coast. The small ship operators we work with offer a wide range of cruises including wildlife tours, cultural visits, scenic hikes and idyllic beaches. Reactions from travellers have been very positive and we are therefore very excited about this addition to our services offered.
