  1. Hello to everyone at Sairee Cottage Diving and Scuba Diver Magazine,

I recently got into diving by sheer fluke; when my mate asked me to join him for an adventure off the coast of Mexico diving with Great White Sharks. What an adventure that was! The result; I want to dive all the time!

Having always loved the sea following many years kayak surfing (self taught) and body boarding, I am interested in marine conservation, am a member of the Marine Conservation Society, support the RNLI and just love everything about the sea.

I am looking for the best way to end my manic publishing career spanning 20+ years to get into diving full-time. But let’s face it, since I am married with 4 kids, 3 dogs a thriving business (www.levenmediagroup.co.uk) and a very busy life, finding a good reason to escape and become a dive master for someone like me is just a crazy pipe dream!

However my very wise (much wiser than me, obviously) 13 year old said “if you don’t enter Dad you won’t win; that’s what you tell us!”.

So here I am crazily typing my life story in 500 words entering your life changing competition knowing it’s a one in a million chance. Why not dream from time to time and practice what I preach to my kids?

I’d be a committed team member having run my own company and knowing how important people are – caring about people has always been the most important thing to me. This has probably been the main contributor to my success in business and my overall enjoyment of life.

My career has given me much experience; I have trained people for many years in publishing, mostly in sales. In my private life I love to help people enjoy a good time, especially laugh, so since seeing Paul Daniels when I was 8 years of age I have been doing magic tricks to entertain kids and adults for fun!

I love a good time, am a good listener, always have a good laugh and love to see people grow and achieve their goals.

Since qualifying as a PADI Open Water Diver in August 2017 I now have 40 dives under my belt. I quickly progressed to Advanced Open Water and have just started my Rescue Diver.

It’s fair to say I am well and truly hooked on Diving and would love to do diving professionally. To get away from media and make a difference to people to give them the amazing gift of diving that was given to me and 2 of my kids by David Roberts at Kennack Diving here in West Cornwall where I live (thanks David).

In short, to win this competition would be more than life changing for me – it would be totally amazing to do something more worthwhile and make my family proud; I know my kids wish for me to win this and not waste my life working so hard to provide for them!

  2. Hi there, I’m a master instructor and just have started to introduce a coluque of mine to the diving world. He currently is open water and have a substantial amount of overhead inviroment diving in a theatrical area a already. I would appreciate if you could concider him for the praise as he has showed a lot of promise and ability in this new world. He is like a little child and love what he is doing to the extend of madness. His world has changed and now all he can talk about has s diving and making it a permanent career. He is Justin hall, currently working at le Perle, al Habtoor city, Dubai

  3. Sitting behind a desk day in day out finally got to me. I took the plunge and left it all behind knowing there must be more to life than accountancy!. Well…..there is! Having already gained my PADI advanced open water I am ready to take another plunge and go all the way to PADI OWSI so I would love to win this DM comp! Once fully qualified I want to be able to spread the joy……everyone should have the opportunity to experience and see what amazing sealife lies beneath us whether that be on a discovery scuba day, fun dive or like me gain a new and more exciting career! Life is too short not to!
