Searches by Coastguard and RNLI teams for a scuba diver missing off the Dorset coast were called off on Sunday (26 May).
The joint operation had been launched shortly before 3pm the previous afternoon, following reports that the diver had failed to return from a dive.
The Coastguard co-ordinated a search that involved two of its helicopters and a fixed-wing aircraft as well as the RNLI’s Weymouth and Swanage all-weather lifeboats. All vessels in the vicinity were alerted to keep a look-out for the missing person.
The searches had been stood down by midnight, with broadcasts to shipping in the vicinity continuing through the night, and resumed on Sunday before being called off later in the day.
