PADI Course Director, regular Scuba Diver contributor and ocean plastic evangelist David Jones has spent the last 10 years talking about plastic pollution to the diving community. He has been a regular speaker at dive shows and played a major part in the making of the film A Plastic Ocean, so naturally he is delighted at the recent upsurge in interest in the issue and the changes that people are making.
However, that doesn’t mean he is now sitting back and watching it all happen. His latest venture, The Big Microplastic Survey, is a collaborative programme that he has developed between his own non-profit organisation, Just One Ocean, and the University of Portsmouth.
It is a global citizen-science project that invites individuals, schools, clubs and organisations to be a part of the solution by conducting their own surveys. The results will be used for further study and research into ocean microplastics. If you care about the oceans, why not register today?
