A male shore-diver in his late 60s was found unconscious on Bigbury Beach in south Devon on Friday, 31 May, and later died in hospital.

The police were alerted at around 1pm, and emergency services attended the scene or were standing by, including a Coastguard helicopter from Newquay and lifeboats from Hope Cove, Plymouth and Sedgewell.

The man was airlifted to Derriford Hospital about 20 miles away in Plymouth, where he was pronounced dead. His relatives have been informed and a coroner’s report is being prepared.
