The Underwater Tour Awards team is excited to showcase the Finalists in the 2022 Guru Awards.
After advancing from the scoring round and on into the Shortlists, these photographs have been chosen as Finalists by our 5-member Judging Panel.
Winners will be announced on December 18.
GURU GRAND PRIZE FINALISTS

Our major award, the Guru Grand Prize celebrates a great photographer, not just one great photo. The ultimate prize is awarded to a photographer chosen from the pool of the highest achieving entrants who submitted six entries across three or more of the competition categories.
AQUATIC ABSTRACTS FINALISTS
Underwater or topside photographs of freshwater and/or ocean subjects. Abstracts do not necessarily represent reality, but rather seek to evoke an emotional response using shapes, colours, and textures.
REPORTAGE FINALISTS
A factual, journalistic presentation of threats, activism and/or actions relating to the underwater environment.
TOPSIDE SCENES FINALISTS
Photographs taken above water depicting ocean or freshwater environments. Seventy percent (70%) of the image should depict water.
UW BLACK & WHITE FINALISTS
Any photograph taken underwater, must display no colour, only grey tones. Must be clearly shot underwater.
UW CHARACTERS FINALISTS
Underwater photographs depicting marine/aquatic animals or people. Can be taken in freshwater or the ocean. Must clearly be shot underwater.
UW SCENES FINALISTS
Underwater photographs depicting marine/aquatic environments. May include marine animals. Can be taken in freshwater or the ocean. Must clearly be shot underwater.
